Researching a Career

From your research on labour market information, type up a post that answers the following questions. This will not only help you focus your career goals with concrete data, but it will also provide other students with a reference point for careers they might not have previously considered.
  1. Who are the typical employers?
  2. What are some of the main duties?
  3. What type of education and training will be required?
  4. What do the current and future employment prospects look like ?
  5. What is the average income for this profession?
  6. After your research, what do you like or dislike about the job?

I had researched Dental Hygienists and found that some potential employers are health units, dental offices, dental clinics, and hospitals. Some of the main duties are updating the patients oral health history, taj=ke dental impressions, clean and stimulate gums to prevent gum disease, apply flouride treatment, take and develope xrays. This is a 2 year course and have to pass a qualifying exam. The future employment prospects over the next 5 years are good! Afte researching this job I still want to pursue an= future in the dental field. The only thing tha i do not really like is that in order to f=get into the course you have to take a test and only the people with the highest marks are accepted, so if you are 1 % less than another person trying to get in, you might not make it!

- Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care

Operating room technicians perform some or all of the following duties:
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving and sterilizing the patients' operative areas
- Assist in surgery by laying out instruments, setting up equipment, assisting surgical teams with gowns and gloves and passing instruments to surgeons
- Clean and sterilize the operating room and instruments
3. Employment Requirements
- Completion of a vocational, college or other approved program for licensed practical nurses is required.
- Registration with a regulatory body is required in all provinces and territories.
- Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination is required in all provinces and territories except Quebec.
- Operating room technicians require either additional academic training in operating room techniques or on-the-job training.
4. The future prospects look good.
5. They make between $23.00 per hour and $26.00 per hour.
6. I dislike that a Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination is required.
